Guyana – March 13, 2013 – Qualfon’s mission is “Making People’s Lives Better” and that includes our people, customers, clients, and our communities. Recently, Qualfon employees donated their time and effort to help people on the streets of Georgetown, Guyana by providing food care kits. Our communities are part of the Qualfon family. We depend on our communities and they need to feel they can depend on us when they are in need.
Qualfon began a monthly outreach program this February, providing meals for the homeless in Guyana. Last month, Qualfon employees delivered 100 boxes of hot meals to the homeless in the Bourda, Water, and Regent Street locations. This initiative was an idea brought forward by employees of Qualfon; to serve those who are not privileged to a hot meal daily. Ten volunteers of the company served meals and sat down with the homeless, many of whom were elderly. Qualfon welcomes the participation and assistance of any people or organizations who would like to join in the efforts of the program. Please reach out to our local foundation coordinator – Karissa Joseph at kjoseph@qualfon.com or call 592- 220-0401 for further information.
Helping feed people is just one part of the Qualfon employee volunteerism program; other efforts include reading for children at the pediatric ward of the public hospital, teaching computer programs to children at the orphanages, providing vital training courses to enhance computer and communication skills to people within the community, and support programs to the elderly homesteads.
“Qualfon has a strong commitment to our community. Our people are providing hands-on volunteer work and community collaboration to benefit the people of Guyana,” said Luanna Persaud, Qualfon’s Country Manager for Guyana. “We desire to serve those among us in whatever way we can because part of our core values teaches us the importance of service to others inside and outside of our jobs”.
